The Little Mermaid Movie Review

Rob Marshall's live-action adaptation of Walt Disney's 1989 The Little Mermaid is based on the popular Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.

Rob Marshall in this epic retelling of the 1989 Walt Disney classic has maintained a linear narrative.

The Little Mermaid sees Arial, enamoured by the surface prince, give up her fins and power to gain two legs and try to make him fall in love with her.

Melissa McCarthy is the soul of The Little Mermaid as the evil sea witch Ursula. She steals the show with her amalgamation of dread and comedy.

Halle Bailey is the film’s big discovery. With Disney eyes, luscious lashes and a charming smile, she embraces her mer-princess avatar.

The Little Mermaid has a talented pool of actors including Noma Dumezweni, Art malik, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina

However, the linear CGI-heavy narrative of The Little Mermaid offers little to the imagination.

The film brings back fond nostalgia in recreating memorable songs that were a big part of the original narrative.

We at TheTejnews have given Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy starrer The Little Mermaid 4/5 stars. Let us know what do you think!
